Help topics

Frequently asked questions.

What is PinLore and how does it work?

PinLore is an iOS app for Disney pin collectors. Take one clear photo of a pin, and PinLore uses image-analysis technology, community content, and current marketplace listing/search results where available to return likely identity context and save the result to your pin board.

How does PinLore identify Disney pins from a photo?

PinLore analyzes user-submitted photos using third-party image-analysis services, including Gemini-based image analysis where applicable, and may combine that with community content and current marketplace listing/search results returned through third-party APIs.

How do I get the best scan result?

Place the pin on a plain surface, use bright even lighting, keep the whole pin in frame, avoid glare, and retake the photo if the artwork, text, FAC, SKU, or backstamp is blurry.

What details can PinLore show?

Suggested results may include likely identity, visible condition notes, confidence, user-generated notes, community context, and other details that should be independently verified by the user.

How are pin value ranges estimated?

PinLore may use visible condition, confidence, user-provided context, and current marketplace listing/search results returned through the eBay API where available. PinLore does not provide a historical sales database, sold-listing archive, appraisal service, or guaranteed valuation service.

How accurate are the value ranges?

Value ranges are guidance estimates, not exact resale prices. Market activity, condition, rarity, listing quality, and buyer demand can change quickly, so use PinLore as research support before a trade, purchase, or sale.

What if my pin is not recognized?

Try another photo with better lighting, sharper focus, and the full pin visible. If the result still looks wrong, contact support with the photo and any known details so we can review the issue.

What can I save to my pin board?

You can save identified pins and scan results so your collection stays connected to your photos, notes, condition context, and available marketplace listing/search context.

Does saved pin data refresh?

Yes. PinLore can refresh available image-analysis context and marketplace listing/search results when you reopen a saved result, so older saved items can reflect newer current responses where available.

Can I use PinLore as an authentication certificate?

No. PinLore is a research and collection utility. For high-value purchases, resale, insurance, or authenticity disputes, consult a qualified expert.
